Maids of Honor and Bridesmaids

When coordinating your Special Day, pulling together your Bridal party can be a bittersweet task. There are however, a few tips and tricks that can help to smooth the process over.

Picking your Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids
When picking who the special gals will be, go with your heart. Try not to feel obligated to pick certain distant family members or random office “friends”, remember it is your day. Typically there is approximately 1 Bridesmaid per 50 guests you’ll have attending. You don’t too often see intimate weddings with 12+ Bridesmaids, for example. You want the Bridal party you choose to be your own personal special selections; they will be the people you want with you through your monumental declaration of love. Keep in mind that your Bridesmaids will need to come together in agreement on unified looks for your special day. Ultimately the ladies you choose love you and that is why you have or will select them. Through any issues that may arise, remember that you love them and that the entire day it’s self is about celebrating love.

Bridesmaid Dress Selecting

Choosing Bridesmaid dresses can prove to be a daunting task in some cases, especially if all of your Bridesmaids have very different figures from one another. While the task may be daunting, it is not impossible, there are ways to find dresses that flatter all of your Bridesmaids, it may be time consuming, or involve compromise, but there is always a way. Here are some tips for selecting Bridesmaids dresses for your Bridesmaids.

Empire Waist Dresses

Empire waist dresses often flatter a wide range of figures. The waist bands often lie between resting just under the breast to the high waist area. The fabric that falls below the waist band is flowing and compliments a range of women’s figures; tall, petite, curvy,  and plus sized. Empire waist dresses also come in all different lengths from short to floor length, some even have trains!

A-Line Dresses

A-line dresses or princess dresses are much similar to Empire waist dresses, however they don’t synch quite as much at the waist. They are very free flowing in nature, flowing down from just under the waist. A-line dresses compliment many figures including tall, petite, and curvy women.

Sheath Style Dresses

Sheath style dresses may work quite well for voluptuous Bridesmaids as well as thin or tall Bridesmaids. Sheath style dresses are, for the most part form fitting and slender. They come in a range of lengths ranging from short to floor length.

Known for its uber-friendly and incredibly active populace, Australia is host to a number of other reasons why it’s such a spectacular and unique wedding destination.  In terms of beautiful and varied scenery, Australia’s hard to beat.  You have the awe-inspiring Great Barrier reef, the rugged Outback and urban and urbane cities chock full of upscale dining options heavily influenced by Europe and Asia, not to mention the land down under.  Know that the local wines in Australia are also real treats and beg to be discovered.

The weather in Australia tends to be enviable.  Australian weather tends to run on the pleasant side, since most of the cities are on oceans.  Not too many extremes here, but in the summertime, some places get hot, so make sure to pack up those sunglasses and sunscreen.

Australia excels at guest activities.  For outdoors types, there is the Great Barrier Reef, just off Queensland, which is an unbelievable spot for snorkeling or scuba diving.  The same goes for the Ningaloo Reef.  For excellent jet-skiing, parasailing, windsurfing and good old-fashioned water-skiing, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast are great spots.  Tasmania is the place for thrill seekers looking for a whitewater rafting rush. Then there is the Outback; a wonderful scenic route perfect for that four-wheel trek.

In term of wildlife activities, Australia is home to many amazing zoos. There is also Kangaroo Island, which is home to a variety of wildlife including kangaroos, seals, sea lions, swans, lorikeets and wallabies.

Another popular activity is a guided walk with an Aboriginal native.  You may be encouraged to eat a bug or two, but hey, they’re protein rich and surprisingly tasty!

For all these reasons, and many more, Australia makes a delightfully unique wedding destination!
